Ho Chi Minh City prepares for 4th dose of COVID-19 vaccines

The organization of the 4th dose of Covid-19 vaccine is guaranteed to be safe, of good quality and on schedule according to regulations and guidance of the Ministry of Health.

It is expected that 03 groups receiving the 4th dose: People at 50 years old and older; people at 18 years of age or older with immunodeficiency syndrome in moderate to vigorouso ; People in high-risk groups for exposure to Covid-19 (including health workers, frontline staffs against the epidemic, workers and people working in industrial zones).

The 4th dose of Covid-19 vaccine will be administered at the following locations:

- Hospitals, vaccination facilities for employees who are working or people undergoing inpatient treatment at the unit (including people residing in other provinces and cities receiving treatment).

- Mobile injection units in the city.

- Injection at home for some cases of difficult or impossible to move to injection sites.

Ho Chi Minh City is expected to start injecting the 4th dose as soon as the vaccine is provided by the Ministry of Health. The vaccine used is the mRNA vaccine (by Pfizer or Moderna), the vaccine produced by AstraZeneca and the vaccine of the same type as the 3rd dose.

For people who have been infected with Covid-19, after receiving the first booster dose (the 3rd dose), vaccination must be postponed for another 03 months from the date of Covid-19 infection. The interval between the 4th injection is at least 04 months after the 3rd dose.
